Nerissa Gómez is a Mexican-American artist based in Houston, TX.

Gómez's work centers around female empowerment while showcasing her subject's inner strength & resilience, with the hope that her work reflects & supports the conquering of emotional pain. Born in Brownsville, TX, she grew up in Matamoros, MX, where her life spanned both sides of the border throughout childhood. Her Mexican roots, Houston and the Rio Grande Valley, make up a huge part of who she has evolved into as an artist.

Fine lines and meticulous detail embody Gómez's technique. Her pieces can be playful, but typically the tone is serious, generally focusing on the grit and determination of the female subject. She plays with color to bring attention to specific elements and to create a mood or narrative. Her art has served and continues to work as a metamorphic medium.

Gómez holds a B.F.A. from University of Houston’s Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts where she is currently the Director of Special Events.
